Selvage Edge Brass Woven Wire Mesh Introduction:
The term, “selvaged edge” refers to the edge or border of wire cloth that has a finished edge. When wire cloth is woven, the shute wires are woven in, continuously, forming a smooth edge that runs the length of roll while helping to prevent unraveling on certain specifications. Generally speaking, a selvage edge will increase the stability of a mesh and provide a ety edge for handling. Looped selvage, as seen in the photo below, is the most common type of selvage edge. In recent years, selvage edge has decreased in popularity due to difficulty in producing and increased costs to produce. When a selvage edge is required, it is important to specify, as raw edge is widely the norm in the industry.
Brass is an alloy that is comprised of copper and zinc, and, like copper, brass is soft and malleable and is attacked by ammonia and similar salts. As a wire mesh, the most commonly available brass woven wire mesh is referred to as H65 and has a chemical composition of approximately 65% copper, 35% zinc. Weaving Methods: Plain Weave
Features of Selvage Edge Brass Wire Mesh:
1) A selvage edge will increase the stability of a mesh and provide a ety edge for handling.
2) Abrasion, corrosion, high temperature and spark resistance.
3) Acid, alkali resistance.
4) Durable, good ductility, tensile strength.
5) Allowing light, air, liquid to pass.
6) Discolor due to atmospheric condition.
7) Not suitable for salt water application.
8) Clean and install easily.
9) Brass mesh has lower electricity and heat conductivity but better abrasion and corrosion resistance, better tensile strength compared with copper mesh cloth.
